SOCCER HOBO

This is my latest project for Use Your Stuff.  This week's challenge was to create a project with a weather theme.  I was trying to decide what type of layout I wanted to do while I was hiding in my car from a torrential rainstorm before a soccer game.  My daughter's soccer season has been very....wet to say the least.  But the strange thing is, the nastier the weather, the better her team does.  I was watching her walk towards the stadium with her soccer gear tucked safely away in her most useful piece of equipment this season; the Hefty trash bag. I quickly snapped a picture of her after she tossed her trash bag over her shoulder and thought, "What a perfect subject matter for a weather related layout!"  To pull this project together, I used a variety of papers including cloud paper from Bella Blvd's, "Simply Spring" line and soccer paper from Bo Bunny's "Game On" collection.  Finally, I was inspired by the following sketch from my former design team "2 Broke Girls" when organizing this project.

NAMASTE

This is my latest project for Creative Inspiration using the following sketch.  For this project, I decided to feature two of my favorite pictures from a recent senior picture photo shoot my daughter had done.  It was a gorgeous early spring afternoon.  She was having a blast having her picture taken in various parts of nature trail. The next thing we knew, she plopped down on a trail and struck a yoga pose.  That's what I love so much about her; she's serious one minute and a goof the next.  To pull this project together, I used a variety of papers from The Paper Studio's "Ninth Street" collection.

REMEMBER ALWAYS

This is my latest project for Creative Inspirations using the following sketch.  For this project, I used one of my favorite pictures taken of my daughter and her best friend at their senior prom.  I heard all those clichés when she was younger; that we will blink and she will be off to college.  It's not a cliché; it is truth.  These two have grown up together.  I can't believe we are at this point.  I hope these two always remember the fun they've had together; the support they've given to each other throughout the years.  I hope that these two always have each other to lean on throughout their adult lives.  Since this sketch called for one, larger picture, I decided it would be the perfect picture for this project.  To pull out the bluish hues in my daughter's prom dress, I used a sheet of paper from 49 and Market's  "Sweet Reflections" line along with the collection's corresponding embellishments.

BASKETFULL OF JOY

This is my latest project for Let's Scrap using the following sketch.  For this week's challenge, I was inspired by Easter pictures I took of my daughter and her cousins coloring Easter eggs.  It's become a tradition that the kids get together the day before Easter and see who can make the prettiest egg.  I don't know what we did different with the coloring this year, but almost every egg we dyed was a vibrant color.  And they tasted quite good too when they became egg salad (although it was a funky colored egg salad...)  To pull this project together, I used a variety of papers from Authentique's "Abundant" collection.

THE PERFECT SUMMER DAY

This is my latest project for Sketchy Board Challenge using the following sketch.  For this project, I was inspired by the colors and the bricks in the background.  Last summer, my daughter and her good friends went to a local town known for the art scene.  She had her picture taken in front of a colorful brick wall, and I immediately thought of it when I saw the inspiration for this sketch.  To pull this project together, I used a variety of scrap papers I had on hand from Bella Blvd's "Illustrated Faith" collection along with a sheet of white brick paper from Michaels's "Recollection" line.

MAGICAL

This is my latest project for Use Your Stuff.  For this challenge, we were asked to use yarn, string, or twine on a project.  Recently, my mother gave me a batch of pictures of my oldest flying a kite when she was two years old.  She's now seventeen and getting ready to graduate from high school.  Needless to say, I've been a little nostalgic here lately, so I decided to use one of my favorites for this project.  To mimic the kite in the picture, I used a gold die cut, added a gold brad to the die cut, and strung a piece of gold and white baker's twine through the brad to make my own kite on the project.  To pull this project together, I used a variety of papers from Crate Paper's "Carousel" line along with its corresponding embellishments.

SALTY BUT SWEET

This is my latest project for Sketches in Thyme using the following sketch.  With the sketch calling for an 8x10 picture, I knew I needed to find a terrific snapshot.  I decided to use a picture taken from one of my favorite photoshoots.  When my girls were small, we had family beach pictures taken at Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.  As I was going through my CD of pictures, I came across this one.  I hadn't seen it in a long time, and it literally took my breath away. My sensitive older daughter was walking along leaning on me while my happy go lucky younger girl skipped along the ocean's edge holding her Dad's hand.  We look so happy, so relaxed.  It's a picture that I never looked closely at until the other day.  And with my oldest graduating this year and my youngest finishing Middle School, it made me realize how fast time flies.  To pull this project together, I used a variety of papers from Authentique's "Sea Maiden's" collection.
