PINEAPPLE WILLY'S

This is my latest design for Sketches in Thyme using the following layout.  I love Panama City Beach, Florida.  And one of my absolute favorite places to go while on vacation there is Pineapple Willy's.  The restaurant sits on a pier that goes out into the Gulf of Mexico so the view is incredible. If you are bored while waiting on your food, you can go play on the beach and return to your table, which is a picnic bench, when your food arrives.  It is so laid back, so much fun to eat there...Sadly due to unforeseen issues, a trip to Florida is not in our family's cards this summer.  So instead, I've decided to dip into my archives of Florida pictures to get my beach fix.  I used a line of paper that I had never heard of before called "Rendezvous" to create this page. And a few glittery palm trees and pineapple stickers finished the page off nicely. 

FIRST DAY

This is my latest project for Let's Scrap using the following sketch.  For this layout, I was inspired by two things; the notebook paper on the left side of the page and the time of the year.  My school district released for summer break a week ago.  The last day of school also marked my daughter's last day as an elementary student.  It was a bittersweet day; while I'm glad she will finally be attending the school I teach at, my baby isn't an elementary girl anymore...So I started going through my archives of first day of school pictures.  It is amazing to see how she transformed from a kindergartener to a fifth grader.  So with the school like feel of the sketch and the milestone that occurred at my house, I decided to document this event.  To pull the project together, I used Echo Park's "Teacher's Pet" collection to highlight my daughter's very first to very last day of school.

OCEANS OF FUN

 This is my latest design for The Memory Nest using the following sketch.  My happy place is the beach.  And sadly due to a knee surgery, volleyball schedule, etc, etc, a beach vacation is not in the stars this summer.  So I decided to dip into my beach archives and scrap one of my favorite pictures I took of my daughter last year at Panama City Beach, Florida.  She was being "sculpted" into a mermaid on the beach by her sister...It doesn't matter where you go along the Florida Panhandle, the water is a glorious emerald green.  While the picture may not be the clearest of my daughter, I love the different colors of water behind her. So when I saw the papers in the Kaisercraft "Coastal Escape" collection, I instantly thought of Florida and my mermaid girl.  This sketch allowed for me to use a variety of the papers in the line without taking away from the beauty of the picture which I liked.

PARTY ON GARTH

This is my latest project for The Memory Nest using the following sketch.  For this project, I was completely motivated by the picture.  My niece broke her glasses the last day of school, so while she was waiting on them to be repaired, she had to wear these...And little did she know, she was channeling her inner "Garth" from Wayne's World.  Every time I saw this picture lying on my desk, I heard "Bohemian Rhapsody" in my head and kept saying to myself, "Party on Wayne."  So when I went to create this layout and realized that the title is the focal point of the sketch, I thought, "Boy do I have the perfect picture..."  To pull this project together, I used paper from the Bella Boulevard "Color Chaos" and "Illustrated Faith" collection along with chipboard embellishments from the Simple Stories "Life in Color" line.    

BARK BOOK

 This is my latest project for Let's Scrap using the following sketch.  I must admit, this sketch was a challenge for me. I'm not a big booklet maker, so I had to do some serious thinking on how to attack this requirement.  I've said several times, I'm a seasonal scrapper, and when I began this project, it was two weeks until the end of the school year.  What that means at the Middle School where I teach is that it's yearbook time.  So when I saw "long booklet cut in 3 parts," I decided to create my own version of a yearbook featuring my three dogs (as seen below on this post).  For the rest of the sketch, I included several of my favorite recent pics of my dogs and daughter.  To pull this project together, I used Echo Park's "Bark" collection.

HI ARIEL

This is my latest layout for Sketches In Thyme using the following sketch.  If you follow my blog, you know I have a thing for Doodlebug Design paper.  I instantly fell in love with the colors and cute patterns of the  recently released "Under the Sea" collection. When I saw the sketch for this week, I instantly thought of "Ariel" from The Little Mermaid.  And if I'm being honest, I might have been looking for an excuse to buy this line... My girls have ALWAYS loved Ariel, so much in fact that for two Halloweens in a row, my oldest daughter dressed up as her.  When we went to Disney World a few years back, both girls stood very patiently in a long line until they got a chance to "talk" to her.  This sketch with all the circles and stars reminded me of the background of Ariel's Cove.  Featured in this sketch are some of my favorite pictures from the trip of my girls asking Ariel all the questions they had about being a mermaid.

SQUIRT

This is my latest project for The Memory Nest using
the following sketch.  I'm a Doodlebug Designaholic...I'm not sure there is a Doodlebug paper line that I have not instantly fallen in love with since I started scrapbooking.  And even though the Anchors Aweigh line is more of a boy themed paper, I knew a cute little girl who would look adorable on a layout made with this paper. Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies of all time.  My husband and I love Dude Crush, so when I found this "Squirt" costume, I knew a cute little toddler who could rock the turtle look.  Minus the crock pot in the background, this is one of my favorite pictures of my daughter, so I decided to feature it on this project.  I took a few liberties with this design such as turning the picture vertical and extending the "ribbons" above the title strip at the bottom of the layout.  But overall, I love that I finally found the perfect paper for my little "Squirt"!
